The vacations are approaching and you are looking online for cheap flights International, to Europe or Italy? Google Flights is the tool to find cheap and last minute travel deals for any destination. All thanks to the power of the world’s largest search engine, Google Maps and the agreements the web giant is making with airlines.

How does Google Flights work? The first step is to select the departure city, the destination city, and an approximate date. Generic countries and regions can also be entered as locations: we can then search for cheap flights to Milan, London, Andalusia, Spain, the United States, Europe, and any destination in more or less detail. Filters can be indicated, for example, travel time, number of stopovers, or preferred airline. Thus, one-way, round-trip flights or itineraries involving periods in different cities can be easily planned. Once the cheapest low-cost flight has been found, Google Flights indicates the referring companies that will need to be contacted to proceed with the online booking.

What characterizes Google Flights, besides the geolocation system inherited from Google Maps, is the results comparison tool that makes it unique and competitive against the giants of online low-cost flight booking such as eDreams, Expedia, Volagratis, Kayak and Volo24. This makes it possible to identify different time periods and find the cheapest flight using a histogram chart that highlights the price differences of the cheapest flights in different time frames.

Who is Google Flights aimed at? The main target audience is travelers who want to find the cheapest low-cost flights for their vacations and who have a minimum of flexibility of periods and destinations. In fact, if used well, it allows people to find cheap travel in Europe and around the world. It therefore proves to be a very effective tool in the first phase of online travel research, when you are still undecided about where to go on vacation and want to test the waters for solutions that fit your budget.

The limitations of Google Flights are mainly two. The first is the lack of an online booking system that allows you to book directly with the airline. The second is the absence of major low-cost airlines such as EasyJet, RyanAir, and Lufthansa. However, these are two gaps that can be easily filled, and on the second one Google has already let it be known that it is already taking steps to activate contacts with the missing individuals. On the other hand, for these operators to remain excluded from the service could mean a loss of customers to other low-cost airlines such as Vueling.
